Thinking heads

Sir Ken Robinson is a great speaker and a good comedian, I might add. His words serve as a booster for the self steam and what we are good at. What caught my attention was when he mentioned “Find what we are good at” Yet again I wonder how this is possible when several people (middle class) might not have the RESOURCES to take this step.
As Aristotle mentions,
“It needs the external goods as well; for it is impossible, or not easy, to do noble acts without the proper equipment.” (Nicomachean Ethics, Bk 1, Ch. 8, p. 96)
How can some people find what they are good at when at times it’s not being backed up with resources?
As I recall, Robinson also illustrated a story and mentioned “a Gardener can’t make a beautiful plant but can make the plan grow only when the CONDITIONS are made good for the plant to grow”
Sometimes the Gardener itself is our own parents. In my case the people to take into consideration are our parents themselves. Our parents are the first teachers we have and our early providers. But what will happen when our providers don’t have enough resources to provide us with? In my case I had the choice of working to help the family or work two jobs in order to follow my dream (something that my parents wanted but couldn’t afford).
Yet again, it all starts from the main source our parents; how can they provide for their children when in some cases they can’t afford school for them (the conditions)? Let alone how can we find what we are good at when it’s not as easy as saying it?
My solution: turning things around making what I love a goal to reach for.
ps.. Jimmy moss you have a "member of the beatles" in you class :)
